Combining a Torah class with poetry, Leila Bilick has put together a class so rich I didn’t want it to end! Simultaneously soulful and intellectual, the workshop has empathy for the characters in Torah, the writers of Torah, and its modern-day readers and re-imaginers. In the great tradition of wrestling with the Torah, our ancestors, and our own pasts, Leila creates the space for people of all levels to engage with the text in the way most meaningful to them. Still, she guided us towards greater compassion and understanding of themselves and our expansive humanity, warts and all. My partner and I took the class together and we ended up discussing each week’s session for days afterward!”
